GAS WAR article by: James Thomas Fridas

That was a wonderful day back in 1963 I went to the market and the sign in front of the Shell station on the corner of El Camino Real and Bowers said Gas War gas 18 Cents a gallon, filler up Gene!!
That is what I knew filler up!! Would you like to see that in front of your favorite gas station? OK Jim whats the gag? No gag just letting you know what was and it was good but most people could not see it, example my mothers home was $19,500. today it is over $1,000.000.
Inflation wonderful isn't it? Of course it isn't over until the government destroys the economy and we start over again after a lot of pain and suffering!
I remember to that bread was 29 cents a loaf and coffee was 99 cents for a 2 lb can, also roasts were 19 cents a pound and a rib eye steak dinner at a restaurant was a $1.29 wonderful wasn't it, and people were bitching about the high price it cost, while my mother was a waitress at the Harvest Table all you eat breakfast 99 cents, lunch 1.09 and dinner 1.49 those were as the saying goes, the good ole days!!!
